A crown designed, milled and fitted in a single visit using CEREC, with no impression tray, no temporary crown and no second appointment.
Book an appointmentCEREC lets a crown be designed, milled and cemented in one appointment. You arrive with a broken or heavily filled tooth and leave with the finished crown on it.
What actually happens
The tooth is prepared, then scanned. The crown is designed on screen against your own bite and the neighboring teeth, milled from a ceramic block in the practice, characterized and glazed, then tried in and bonded. Nothing is posted to a laboratory and nothing is temporary.
Why the single visit matters clinically
The convenience is the obvious part. The clinical part is that a prepared tooth is a vulnerable tooth: between appointments it is covered by a temporary crown that can leak, come off, or let the tooth or the gum move enough to affect the fit of the final one. Removing that interval removes a set of problems rather than just an appointment.
Where we still use the laboratory
Same-day is not automatically the right answer. Front teeth that must match an existing natural neighbor, and full-arch or multi-unit cases where the whole bite is being rebuilt, are often better made by a technician working over days with layered ceramics. The practice has an in-house laboratory as well, so the choice is made on the case rather than on what is available.
