Prosthodontics in Midtown East

LAL Dental is a Prosthodontic practice on East 50th Street in Midtown Manhattan, devoted to restoring and reconstructing teeth: implants, full arches, and complex cases.

Why that distinction matters

Many dental practices in Manhattan offer implants and cosmetic work, and most are general practices. Prosthodontics is a recognized dental specialty requiring three years of training after dental school, and it exists specifically for the work of rebuilding teeth.

Dr. Lal is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, certified in 2006 after a four-part examination taken over four years. He taught the specialty at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine from 2002 to 2010, and directed its graduate Prosthodontics program from 2005 to 2008.

For a full arch or a failing bite, that training is directly relevant. For a checkup or a filling, it means the same planning behind everyday care, which is why many patients simply keep a Prosthodontist as their regular dentist. Planning before treatment

Comprehensive treatment planning comes first, and you see the whole plan, its stages and its sequence before anything begins. Planning the finished result first is what makes new teeth easy to clean, built to last, and look like your own.

Prevention is part of it

Reconstruction only lasts if what surrounds it stays healthy. Thorough examinations, hygiene visits every 4 to 6 months, oral cancer screening and x-rays when there is a reason to take them are treatment, not an afterthought to it.

Technology with a purpose

It all starts with a digital scan of your mouth on the new iTero Lumina scanner, and a 3D CBCT x-ray where one is needed. Digital planning means implant positions are designed against the finished teeth rather than judged during surgery. Both exist to make treatment shorter and more comfortable, which is the only reason to adopt either.

Dr. Allison Wisniewski, DDS

A Wisconsin native, Dr. Wisniewski practiced dentistry in San Diego for seven years before moving to New York with her family. Like her father and grandfather before her, she graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry, making her a third-generation dentist.

Her father's practice shaped how she works: a family practice where she gets to know her patients well and gives each of them careful, personal attention. She provides restorative care such as fillings, crowns and bridges, and is Invisalign certified (2021), with completion of the Molis Coaching Program.

Come and talk it through

A consultation is a conversation about what is going on and what the options are. It does not commit you to treatment.
